Easton, Mass. – (September 5, 2024) – Behind two goals from
Abby Borchers and a goal and two assists by
Liina Tervo, the Fordham women's soccer team bounced back with a 4-0 win over the Stonehill Skyhawks at W.B. Mason Stadium on Thursday night.
With the win, Fordham improved to 4-1-1 on the year, while Stonehill fell to 1-5.
The Rams opened the scoring in the 39
th minute, as
Liina Tervo put a cross into the box from the right side, finding
Abby Borchers in front for the deflection goal, her second of the year.
Just three and a half minutes later, Tervo received a through ball from
Fernanda Serna, made a quick move to the left and tucked a shot behind the Stonehill goalkeeper for her fourth goal of the season.
Fordham made it 3-0 in the 67
th minute, as Tervo made a drive into the box from the left side. Her cross in front was again deflected home by Borchers for her second goal of the night and third of the year.
Julia Acosta then capped the scoring in the 79
th minute, scoring on a free kick from 24 yards out, inside the left post. It was her third tally of the season.
In net,
Addison Green recorded three saves for her second shutout of the season, while Kelsey Bello had seven stops for Stonehill.
Fordham will next be in action on Sunday, September 8
th, when the Rams travel to Yale for a 5:00 PM match.
