Fordham's Madden Ocko Hits First Career Home Run

St. Bonaventure, N.Y. – (May 17, 2024) – St. Bonaventure's Luke Roggenburk allowed three runs over 7.1 innings with six strikeouts to lead the Bonnies to a 4-3 win over the Fordham Rams at Fred Handler Park on Friday morning.

The Bonnies netted a run in the first to start the scoring on an RBI-single by Harrison Kaufman.

St. Bonaventure added to the lead with a three-run third inning for a 4-0 advantage.  Jayce Tharnish opened the inning with a double and scored on a single by David Marshall.  Later in the inning, it was Morgan Little with a two-run single that pushed the Bonnies' lead to four.

Fordham cut the deficit in half in the fourth with a pair of runs.  After Daniel Bucciero led off with a single to center, Madden Ocko connected on a two-run home run to left for his first career home run.

The Rams inched closer in the eighth, when Cian Sahler doubled down the right field line and scored on a single by Bucciero, making it a 4-3 game.

Fordham had a chance in the ninth to tie or go ahead, as Chris Genaro drew a walk with two outs.  However, Jack Vallario grounded into a fielder's choice, which forced out pinch-runner T.J. Wachter at second to end the game.

Aidan Dowd (1-3) took the loss for Fordham, allowing four runs on six hits in three innings, while Aric Berg tossed five shutout innings of relief with seven strikeouts. At the plate, Bucciero and Sahler each had two hits and a run scored, with Tommy McAndrews also having a pair of hits.
