Queens, N.Y. – The Fordham University men's tennis team saw its four-match winning streak snapped on Saturday with a 6-0 loss at St. John's University.
The Red Storm opened the match by taking the doubles point, winning both completed doubles matches. Armando Sotelo and Martin Bugaj defeated
Nicholas Kanazirev and
Dhillon Virdee-Oakley at second singles, 6-2, and Ryota Kaneda and Adam Groves took third singles from
John Mascone and
Stefan Stojanovic, 6-1.
St. John's then won five of the six completed singles matches for the win. Virdee-Oakley came close to picking up a point for the Rams, dropping the first set to Armando Sotelo, 6-1, before taking the second to a tiebreaker before falling in the tiebreaker, 7-3.
