Rams Rack Up 12 Runs on 12 Hits in Second Win Over Spiders

Bronx, N.Y. – (April 6, 2024) – After a stellar pitching effort on Friday, the Fordham baseball team put the offense on center stage on Saturday, posting 12 runs on 12 hits in a 12-2 win over the Richmond Spiders at Houlihan Park.

With the win, Fordham improved to 11-18 on the year, 3-2 in the Atlantic 10, while Richmond fell to 12-18 on the year, 2-3 in the league.

Fordham got the ball rolling early, scoring four times in the first inning.  The Rams loaded the bases with no outs and picked up a run on an RBI-single by Steve Luttazi, two on a Richmond error, and one on a ground out by Cian Sahler.

Andrew Kanellis made it 5-0 in favor of Fordham in the second, as he doubled home Ryan Thiesse from first base after a single down the right field line.

Richmond scored twice in the third, but Fordham answered with a run in the bottom of the frame to make it, 6-2.  Jack Vallario recorded an RBI-single to right, scoring T.J. Wachter, who reached on an error.

The Rams then put the game away in the seventh with a six-run rally for a 12-2 final.  Sahler and Daniel Bucciero each had a two-run single in the inning, while Tommy McAndrews and Chris Genaro both registered RBI-doubles.
