Men’s Tennis Shuts Out Manhattanville

Bronx, N.Y. - The weather was much different than its last match in Florida but the results for the Fordham University men's tennis squad was the same. A win. Fordham extended its winning streak to four matches today with a 7-0 decision over Manhattanville College on the Hawthorn/Rooney Courts.
 
Fordham opened the match by taking the doubles point, winning all three doubles matches. Playing in his first collegiate dual match, freshman Cristian Ramos teamed with John Mascone to get things started with an 8-1 win over Manhattanville's Griffin Forberg and Carter Hunter-Crump at third doubles before Nick Mueller and Nicholas Kanazirev clinched the double point for the Rams, defeating Derwin Guzman and Shiel Loganadan at second doubles, 8-3. Giorgio Soemarno and Dhillon Virdee-Oakley then made it a clean sweep at doubles with an 8-2 win over Weston Goodwin and James Hourihan at the first spot.
 
The Rams then put the match away by winning all six singles matches, five in straight sets. Virdee-Oakley picked up the first singles win for the Rams, defeating Loganadan, 6-1, 6-1, at third singles before Soemarno made it 3-0 for Fordham with a 6-1, 6-0, victory over Goodwin at the second position. Mueller then clinched the match for Fordham, defeating Hourihan, 6-0, 6-0, at first singles.
 
Mascone kept the Rams perfect in the match with a 6-1, 6-1, decision over Forberg at fourth singles and Stefan Stojanovic followed with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Guzman at the fifth spot. Ramos closed out the match with his first collegiate dual match single's win, a 2-6, 6-3, 12-10, victory over Hunter-Crump.
