Men’s Tennis Defeats Wagner, 6-1

Giorgio Soemarno wins at second singles and first doubles

Bronx, N.Y. – The Fordham University men's tennis team got back on the winning track on Sunday as the Rams defeated Wagner College, 6-1, at the Cary Leeds Center.
 
Fordham opened the match by taking the doubles point, winning all three doubles matches. Giorgio Soemarno and Nick Mueller took first doubles from Rodrigo Perez and Filippo Tonnicchi , 6-3, while Dhillon Virdee-Oakley and Nicholas Kanazirev were victorious at second doubles over Sebastian Dobson and Kunch Moolchandani, 7-5. John Mascone and Stefan Stojanovic completed the sweep for the Rams with a 6-2 win at the third spot over Aryan Gupta and Lucas Darling.
 
The Rams then put the match away by taking five of the six singles matches, two by default. Soemarno won at second singles over Dobson, 6-3, 6-2, Kanazirev took third singles from Darling, 6-2, 6-1, and Virdee-Oakley defeated Moolchandani at the fourth spot, 6-0, 6-1.
