Rams Score Eight Runs in Seventh for 13-8 Win

Bronx, N.Y. – (February 28, 2024) – Fordham's Tommy McAndrews knocked out a pair of doubles and scored three runs to lead the Rams to a 13-8 win over Saint Peter's at Houlihan Park on Wednesday afternoon.

Playing through a rainy day, Fordham fell behind 3-0 before scoring three times in the second inning to tie the game.  The Rams netted runs on a wild pitch, a sacrifice fly from Michael Brueser, and an RBI-single by Ryan Thiesse.

The Rams then snagged a 5-3 lead in the third, as Andrew Kanellis and Tommy McAndrews scored on a dropped fly ball in center.

After the Peacocks made it a 5-4 game in the fifth, Fordham answered with an eight-run seventh inning to blow the game open.  The Rams loaded the bases with one out and scored single runs on a walk to Brueser and a single by Madden Ocko.  Following a pitching change, another run came home on a ground out by Chris Genaro, making it, 8-4.

Fordham then re-loaded the bases and picked up a two-run single by Henry Pelinski, an RBI-single by Daniel Bucciero, and a two-run double from McAndrews for the 13-4 advantage.

Saint Peter's did score four runs in the eighth to pull within, 13-8, but Koen Smith was able to get the final four outs of the game to secure the Rams' win.

For Fordham, Andres Perez (1-0) earned his first collegiate win, allowing one run on two hits in three innings of relief to go with two strikeouts.  At the plate, McAndrews was 2-for-4 with two doubles, three runs scored, and two RBI, while Brueser and Pelinski each drove in two runs.

Fordham heads to South Carolina for its next set of games, a three-game set at Wofford, March 1-3.
