Deland, Fla. – (February 25, 2024) – Stetson's Jayden Hylton drove in three runs, while Daniel Paret allowed one run over 5.2 innings of work, as the Hatters defeated the Fordham Rams, 9-1, at Melching Field in Deland, Florida.
With the loss, Fordham drops to 1-5 on the year, while Stetson improved to 4-3.
After Stetson grabbed a 2-0 lead in the first, Fordham sliced the deficit in half in the third, when
Nico Boza connected on a solo home run to left, his first of the season.
The Hatters responded with a pair of runs in the bottom of the third, making it a 4-1 contest.
Stetson extended the lead with three runs in the fourth and two in the seventh for a 9-1 advantage.
Fordham was held in check, managing only four hits in the game.
Chris Genaro had two of the Rams' four hits, while Boza was 1-for-2 with a home run and two walks.
Michael Brueser had the other remaining hit.
Dominic Cunha (0-2) took the loss, allowing three earned runs on two hits and three walks over 2.2 innings of work.
The Rams are scheduled to have their home opener in their next contest on Wednesday, February 28
th, against Saint Peter's at Houlihan Park, beginning at 3:00 PM.
