NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Taking a trip up to the Nutmeg State Wednesday night, Fordham University women's basketball heads to Connecticut for a meeting with Yale.

Turn Up and Tune In

  • The Rams will take on the Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. from the John J. Lee Amphitheater in New Haven.

  • Fans can tune in live on ESPN+ with Justin Gallanty and Christine Huber on the call, with an international stream also available.

  • WFUV will hit the road for the radio broadcast on YouTube Live with Chris Carrino and Griffin Stevenson on the call.

Matchup Notes

  • Coming into Wednesday's game, Fordham holds an 11-6 edge in the all-time series against Yale, with the two sides facing off for just the second time in the last decade.

  • Dominating the series of late, the Rams have taken eight of the last nine meetings with the Bulldogs including a pair of wins in Connecticut.

  • Fordham and Yale have faced off just six times since 1990, twice in January and December of 2006, and again in 2010, 2012, and 2013. The Rams took an 80-67 win in The Bronx last time the two squared off in 2022.

Rams at a Glance

  • Fordham (4-3) will look for its third straight win after defeating Siena at home on Nov. 23, and Stony Brook on the road Sunday.

  • Wednesday is the middle game amidst a stretch of three games over the course of a week, as the Rams ventured to Long Island last Sunday, and will host LIU at the Rose Hill Gym on Sunday, Dec. 8.

  • Sitting amongst the top 100 teams in the nation in a number of defensive categories, Fordham enters the weekend 98th in the nation in field goal percentage defense, limiting teams to 37.6% shooting. The Rams also sit 91st in the nation in scoring defense, allowing just 58.0 points per game.

  • Fordham has also earned a number of second chance opportunities on the year, posting 13.9 offensive rebounds per game through the first seven games of the season, sitting 86th in the nation and sixth in the A-10.

  • Sitting fifth best in the conference, Fordham is averaging 9.0 steals per game, collecting a season-best 13 on two occasions against Adelphi and Cal St. Fullerton in the first two games of the campaign.

  • Returning to the court after missing the first two games of the year, Taylor Donaldson leads the Rams with 16.4 points per game and 2.4 steals per game.

  • Irene Murua has been a key addition for the Maroon and White on offense, shooting 53.7% from the field while averaging 12.0 points per game, and leads the team with 6.3 rebounds per game, pulling down just over 3.1 per game on each end of the floor.

  • Taya Davis has helped control the Fordham offense, dishing out 4.1 assists per game, fifth best of any player in the A-10, while also posting 1.8 steals per game including a career-high five against Adelphi in the season opener.

About Yale

  • At just 1-8 on the year, the Bulldogs are looking for their first win since opening night when they defeated Monmouth 64-61.

  • Wednesday's game will mark the lone home game for the Bulldogs between Nov. 24 and Dec. 29, with Yale holding a 5-3 all time record against Fordham in games held in New Haven.

  • The Rams will look to stop Mackenzie Egger, who has tallied 16.6 points per game on 46% shooting from the floor and 38.9% from three-point range.

Weekend by the Water

  • A true test of determination Sunday afternoon Fordham defeated Stony Brook 64-55 on Long Island, in a game that saw the two sides battle for momentum from start to finish.

  • Neither team managed to take more than a two-score lead at any point through the first three quarters of play, with Fordham pulling away early in the fourth quarter for the win.

  • Murua led the Rams Sunday night, tying her career-high with 23 points on 7-of-10 makes from the floor, while also going a perfect 9-of-9 from the free throw line. 

  • One of three Rams to finish in double figures, Chaé Harris would tally 16 points on 6-of-10 shooting, ahead of  Donaldson with 14 points on the night.

  • Having another career game, Kaila Berry drilled 4-of-7 shots from the floor while also collecting four steals and also helped lead the rebounding effort, tied with Murua on the glass with eight rebounds apiece.

Next Stop

  • Fordham will return home Sunday afternoon to host LIU at the Rose Hill Gym at 2:30 p.m.

  • Saturday's game will be the latter half of a doubleheader, with the Fordham men's basketball hosting Maine at 12:00 p.m.
