CHICAGO, Ill. - Keeping pace with the Ramblers in the early stages of all three sets, Fordham University Volleyball was outlasted in straight sets Friday night at Loyola Chicago.
Whitley Moody would lead the Rams with 12 kills, while hitting .324 for the match, along with four digs, while Zoe Talabong would pace the dig totals with 13 and five kills, and Audrey Brown scattered five hammers as well.
Fordham would keep pace with the Ramblers through the early stages of set one, tied through seven-all, and trailing by just one before a five-point swing game Loyola Chicago a 15-9 lead. Fordham would cut it back to three on multiple occasions, but were outlasted 25-18 in the opening frame.
It would be the Maroon and White holding the lead to start the second set, ahead of a quick 6-0 run by the home side, giving the Ramblers the lead, 13-8. Consecutive four-point runs by Loyola Chicago quickly after would put the frame out of reach, with Fordham gathering a handful of points late to make it 25-14.
Another close start to set three would see an early Rams' lead erased at 6-5, but as Loyola Chicago tried to pull away, Fordham was able to keep within the fight. Preventing the Ramblers from an extended run at any points, the visitors would cut the deficit to three, before four straight points by the home side gave them a 25-18 win to sweep the match.
Fordham and Loyola Chicago are back in action at 3:00 p.m. EST tomorrow afternoon to close the penultimate weekend of the regular season.
