Philadelphia, Pa. –
Dhillon Virdee-Oakley and
Dhananjay Athreya traveled down to Philadelphia last weekend to compete in the 2024 ITA Northeast Regional Championship at the University of Pennsylvania.
In the singles main draw
Dhillon Virdee-Oakley defeated Columbia's Junghee You in straight sets in the round of 64, 6-3, 6-4, before falling to Loren Byers of Penn State in the Round of 16, 6-1, 6-2.
In singles qualifying action, Fordham's
Dhananjay Athreya gave top-seeded Danilo Raicevic of St. John's a run for his money, dropping the first set, 6-2, before storming back to take the second, 6-3. Unfortunately Athreya lost the third set, 6-2.
Athreya also played in the qualifying consolations, besting Marco Cinotti from St. John's, 6-1, 6-4.
Athreya and Virdee-Oakley teamed up for doubles action, defeating Gryffin Minor and Tyler Cook from FDU in the Round of 64, 8-5, before falling to Princeton's Alan Kam and Evan Wen in the Round of 16, 8-0.
The Rams return to action as they travel to Davidson College to compete in the Atlantic 10 Individual Championship from October 25-27.
