PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Trading the first two sets Saturday afternoon, Fordham University Volleyball fell in a four-set match at Duquesne, splitting the weekend series with the Dukes in Pittsburgh.
Whitley Moody continued to dominate on offense with a team-high 20 kills along with 15 digs for her ninth double-double of 2024. Zoe Talabong would notch her first career double-double with 10 kills and 12 digs on the afternoon, while Ryan Naumman led the dig numbers with 21. Whitney Woodrow would dish out 21 assists, and collect nine digs along with a trio of service aces, while on the block Lorenza Rosenkilde had a solo and four assists, and Sophia Kuyn tallied four block assists as well.
Trailing by just one at 12-11 in the opening frame, Duquesne would stretch a four point lead later in the set, and rallied late to pull away for a 25-19 win. Fordham would bounce back in the second, tied at nine-all before a quick run saw the Maroon and White open a 17-11 lead down the stretch, using that advantage to see out a 25-19 win of their own and level the match.
Finding themselves trailing by six points at the media break in the third, the Rams fell behind 6-2 early on, and had to battle back the rest of the way, falling 25-15 as Duquesne took a 2-1 lead in the contest. A much closer battle in the fourth set, Fordham would be even at 14-all, but the Dukes would break away from there, defending a slim lead late to take a 25-22 win and the match in four sets.
The Rams will return home next weekend for a pair of matches against Dayton Friday and Saturday.
