Box Score

BRONX, N.Y – It was a back and forth game for much of the night Wednesday, but Fordham University women's basketball was outlasted in the final stages, 74-66 by Loyola Chicago.

Taylor Donaldson led the way for the rams with 22 points, including four makes from beyond the act, along with four rebounds and a pair of assists. One of three double digit scorers, Emy Hayford would tally 13 points with a pair of dimes as well, and Kailah Harris notched 12 points on four of four shooting both from the field and the free throw line, while also pulling down five rebounds. Aminata Ly would pace the Rams on the glass with six rebounds and eight points.

A hot shooting night out of the gates saw the Rams knock down seven baskets in the first quarter, starting the game on an 11-3 run before going up by as much as nine points. They would hold a strong offensive team in Loyola Chicago to just four made baskets in the first ten minutes, taking a 17-10 lead after one quarter of play.

In the second Fordham would tally two of the first three baskets of the frame, but the Ramblers began to work their way back into the game as the quarter progressed, drawing within one with just over two minutes to play in the half. Continuing to work back into the game, Loyola Chicago would send the two sides into the locker room deadlocked at 30 apiece.

Taking a slim lead off the restart, the visitors would take as much as a five point lead midway through the frame, but Fordham managed to work their way back in with strong play at both the start and end of the quarter. Ending the third quarter with five of the last six made baskets from the field, a 10-3 run to take a four point lead heading into the fourth.

It was in that fourth quarter that the Rams would once again push the tempo on offense early on, but the Ramblers would pull away in the latter stages to take the victory Wednesday night.

Fordham women's basketball is back in action Saturday afternoon at the Rose Hill Gym when they host George Washington at 2:00 p.m.
