Cianna Elmazaj Scores for Fordham in Return to Lineup

Bronx, N.Y. – (September 21, 2023) – St. Bonaventure's Ami Komori scored a hat trick, while Chiara Gottinger made 11 saves, as the Bonnies downed the Fordham Rams, 3-1, in Atlantic 10 women's soccer action on Thursday at Moglia Stadium.

St. Bonaventure opened the scoring in the 16th minute for a 1-0 lead.  Lauren Westwood played a ball forward to McKenna Robinson up the left side.  Robinson then cut a cross to the top of the box to Ami Komori for a shot inside the left post for her fourth goal of the season.

Fordham answered with the tying marker late in the first half to make it a one-all game.  Off a deflection, Marie Degroote chipped a pass forward to Cianna Elmazaj on the right side of the box.  Elmazaj then slotted a shot into the left side of the net for her second goal of the season.

The Bonnies regained the lead in the 54th minute, as Komori netted her second goal of the game.  Olivia Allen weaved through two Fordham defenders to find Komori at the top of the box.  She then ripped a shot from 16 yards out under the crossbar for a 2-1 Bonnies' lead.

The Rams then had a golden chance to tie the game in the 62nd minute, as Riley Carroll got loose for a one-v-one chance against St. Bonaventure goalkeeper Chiara Gottinger.  Carroll shot right that Gottinger was able to kick away and keep the lead at one.

Komori then put the game out of reach in the 71st minute, as she completed her hat trick.  Bridget Kennedy sent a long ball forward from the defensive zone to Komori on the right side of the box.  Komori wheeled around for a shot that skipped past Fordham goalkeeper Kyla King for the 3-1 final score.

With the loss, Fordham falls to 3-5-2 on the year, 1-1-1 in the Atlantic 10, while St. Bonaventure improved to 3-2-5 overall, 2-0-1 in the league.

The Rams will next be in action on Monday, September 25th, as Fordham hosts Yale for their final non-league match of the season at Moglia Stadium.  Game time is set for 7:00 PM.
