Bronx, N.Y. – (September 13, 2023) – The Fordham women's soccer team begins conference play this week, as the Rams host George Mason on Thursday night at Moglia Stadium, while traveling to George Washington for a Sunday afternoon showdown.
The Rams (2-4-1) have dropped their last three matches and look to start anew on Thursday against the Patriots. Most recently, Fordham had a 1-0 setback at UAlbany this past Sunday.
Fordham begins conference play under the lights at Moglia Stadium on Thursday against George Mason. The Patriots have had a rough start to the season, sitting with an 0-8 record. George Mason has been outscored 26-0 in those eight matches. Goalkeeper Ginny Fronk has a league leading 54 saves, averaging 6.75 per match.
On Sunday, the Rams are in Washington, D.C., for a match with the re-branded Revolutionaries of George Washington. The Revolutionaries are 3-2-2 on the year and open league play with Massachusetts on Thursday. Kate McGrath has a team-best three goals, while Aoi Kataoka has a league-best six assists. George Washington has played three different goalkeepers with Rose Hemans getting the most action, making 29 saves over five contests.

SERIES HISTORY: This will be the 10
th all-time meeting between Fordham and George Mason with the series tied at three wins apiece with three draws. Fordham has won each of the last three meetings, dating back to 2019. The two teams met last year in Fairfax with Fordham coming away with a 2-1 come from behind win with current Ram

For Fordham and George Washington, the series has also been very even. The Revolutionaries have the slightest edge at 8-7-5 in 20 all-time meetings. Last season, the two teams played to a 2-2 draw with the Rams coming back from a 2-1 deficit at the half.
LAST TIME OUT (9/10): UAlbany's Devon Schmitt scored the lone goal of the contest in the 57th minute, while Megan Hart was credited with three saves, as the Great Danes got past the Fordham Rams, 1-0, in women's soccer action on Sunday.
After a scoreless first half, the only goal of the game came in the 57th minute on a set piece for the Great Danes. Charlotte Takacsy put a long free kick into the box, that found Devon Schmitt for the header goal just under the crossbar. It was her first goal of the season.
The Rams were unable to find the equalizer, recording only two shots after the Great Danes' goal. The best chance came on a free kick with six seconds left on the clock, where every Ram crashed the box, but the ball was cleared away as the horn sounded to end the game.
Kyla King returned to the Rams' net, making one save on the afternoon, while offensively
Sidney Nicholas had a team-high three shots.
A-10 OPENERS: Since joining the Atlantic 10, Fordham is 13-10-5 in their conference opener. The Rams won their league opener last season by a 1-0 score at St. Bonaventure.
WELCOME TO THE ASSIST CLUB: During the Rams' match against Fairfield, Fordham goalkeeper
Serena Mensah recorded an assist on the Rams' goal scored by
Cambrie Arboreen. Mensah added her name to a very exclusive list of Fordham goalkeepers to have an assist, becoming the fifth to do so. Shannon Misiaszek (2001 & 2003) and Kelly LaMorte (2018 & 2019) each had two assists in their Fordham careers to lead the group, while Jen Byer (2007) and
Maria O'Sullivan (2020-21) have one each.
