Albany, N.Y. – (September 10, 2023) – UAlbany's Devon Schmitt scored the lone goal of the contest in the 57
th minute, while Megan Hart was credited with three saves, as the Great Danes got past the Fordham Rams, 1-0, in women's soccer action on Sunday.
After a scoreless first half, the only goal of the game came in the 57
th minute on a set piece for the Great Danes. Charlotte Takacsy put a long free kick into the box, that found Devon Schmitt for the header goal just under the crossbar. It was her first goal of the season.
The Rams were unable to find the equalizer, recording only two shots after the Great Danes' goal. The best chance came on a free kick with six seconds left on the clock, where every Ram crashed the box, but the ball was cleared away as the horn sounded to end the game.
The loss drops Fordham to 2-4-1 on the year, while UAlbany improved to 3-3-0.
Kyla King returned to the Rams' net, making one save on the afternoon, while offensively
Sidney Nicholas had a team-high three shots.
Fordham is back on the pitch on Thursday, September 14
th, as the Rams begin Atlantic 10 play against George Mason at Moglia Stadium. Game time is set for 7:00 PM.
