Bronx, N.Y. – As we continue to breakdown the 2023 Fordham Rams, we move to the running backs.
Despite the loss of 1,000-yard rusher
Trey Sneed to graduation, the Fordham offensive backfield is still loaded with talent, led by junior
Julius Loughridge, a 2022 Second Team All-Patriot League selection, who came up just shy of 1,000 rushing yards last year when he led the Rams with eight rushing touchdowns.
Other returners joining Loughridge in the offensive backfield are junior
Taj Barnes, and sophomores
Jack Kaiser,
Chris Shaw, and
Mason Hatfield.
Barnes has appeared in three games in his career, gaining 13 rushing yards last fall, while Kaiser scored his first collegiate touchdown last year on a six-yard pass at Bucknell. Shaw had four carries last year for 52 yards while Hatfield did not see action as a rookie in 2022.
Newcomers to the offensive backfield include sophomore transfer Rickey Parks, along with freshmen
Jamell James,
Yaahdir Nash,
Jacob Rodriquez, and
Vinny Rugai.
Parks, a four-star recruit out of high school, started his collegiate career at the University of Utah before arriving at Fordham. James played his high school football at Fitch High School in Youngstown, Ohio, where he rushed for more than 1,000 yards and scored 19 touchdowns last fall. Nash is a product of Malvern Prep in Malvern, Pennsylvania, where he gained more than 1,000 rushing yards last fall, while Rodriquez, a NJ.com Third Team, All-Non-Public Offense selection, played at Hudson Catholic last year and Rugai was the CCL Lawless Player of the Year and an All-State selection at St. Ignatius College Prep in Chicago in 2022.
Season and individual game tickets for the 2023 home season are now on sale through the
Fordham Athletic Ticket Office.
