St. Louis, Mo. – (May 18, 2023) – Saint Louis' Cole Smith drove in five runs, while Henry Litman scattered six hits over six innings, as the Billikens topped the Fordham Rams, 9-2, at the Billiken Sports Center in St. Louis, Missouri.
Saint Louis opened the scoring in the first inning, as the first four batters reached on singles with Patrick Clohisy and Cam Redding posting RBI-singles. Cole Smith then had a sacrifice fly for the 3-0 lead.
Fordham answered with a run in the second inning, as Will Finday connected on a double down the left field line and scored on an RBI-single to center by
Peter DeMaria to make it, 3-1.
The Billikens added to the lead with a two-run home run by Smith in the third inning and an RBI-single by Smith in the fifth for a 6-1 lead.
The Rams closed back within four in the seventh, as with two on and two out,
Daniel Bucciero delivered an RBI-single to score
Chris Genaro from second base.
Saint Louis though responded with three runs in the bottom of the inning to close out a 9-2 win.
For Fordham, DeMaria was 3-for-4 with an RBI in his return to the Rams' lineup after missing the last five games.
Ryan Thiesse also had a multi-hit game, going 2-for-4.
Declan Lavelle (1-6) took the loss, allowing six runs on nine hits.
