Queens, N.Y. – Fordham softball suffered a 4-1 defeat at St. John's on Wednesday afternoon, falling to 13-20 on the year, while the Red Storm improved to 15-20.
Outside of a
Sydney Wells solo blast in the fourth inning, the Rams offense was held in check by starter Loreley Francia, totaling five other hits and two walks, both by
Mallory McClellan.
Bailey Enoch fell to 3-5 on the year, going the distance but giving up four runs, three earned. Both
Eva Koratsis and
Sarah Taffet notched a pair of hits, the latter doubling, with Wells and
Michaela Carter recording the other hits.
A two-out, two-run single by Anese Thompson in the third inning put the hosts up for good, while a pair of doubles in the fourth erased Wells' moonshot. The Johnnies rallied with two outs in the sixth for the final run, coming on London Jarrard's RBI single.
Fordham next sets its sights on this weekend's three-game series at Saint Louis. Saturday's doubleheader and Sunday's finale are both set to start at noon although there is inclement weather in the forecast so stay tuned for updates on schedule changes!
