Urgo named District 4 Coach of the Year, Quisenberry earns Second Team All-District Honors

BRONX, N.Y. – On the heels of the Rams' best campaign in more than a quarter-century, Fordham Head Coach Keith Urgo and graduate student Darius Quisenberry have earned postseason recognition from the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC).

Urgo was named the NABC District 4 Coach of the Year while Quisenberry found on spot on the All-District Second Team.  The awards were selected by NABC member-coaches from across the country.

Urgo takes home yet another coaching honor after a marvelous first year at the helm of the Rams, guiding Fordham to a 25-8 record and matching the second-highest win total in program history (the Rams last won 25 games in 1990-91).  In Atlantic 10 play, the Rams turned in a 12-6 mark, setting program high-water marks for conference wins and winning percentage since joining the league nearly 30 years ago.  Fordham's 12 A-10 victories were its most ever in any conference.

For his efforts, Urgo became just the second Fordham head man and first since Nick Macarchuk in 1999 to be named Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year.  He is also a finalist for a pair of national coaching awards, the Jim Phelan and Joe B. Hall Awards, the first of which recognizes the top coach in all of Division I and the latter of which honors the country's best first-year coach.

Quisenberry wrapped a stellar collegiate career with the Rams in 2022-23, leading the team and ranking sixth in the conference with 16.9 points per game.  The graduate student also finished second on the squad and 13th in the league with 3.2 assists per outing while turning in a 1.9 assist-to-turnover ratio that was good enough for fifth in the Atlantic 10.

On Feb. 5 at Richmond, he became just the 648th player in Division I history to crack the 2,000-point plateau.  He finished just 39 points shy of hitting the 1,000-point mark in just 58 games as a member of the Rams.

Quisenberry scored 20 or more points 12 times in 2022-23.  The Rams went 11-1 in those contests.
