Rams’ Win Streak Snapped at Three Games

Bronx, N.Y. – (March 12, 2023) – Quinnipiac's Mason Ulsh threw three innings of two-hit relief to secure a 3-2 victory over the Fordham Rams on Sunday afternoon at Houlihan Park.

The loss snapped Fordham's three-game win streak, putting the Rams at 3-12 on the year.

The game was scoreless until the fifth inning, when the Bobcats got on the scoreboard.  John Heitzman led off with a single and then scored on a double by Sean Swenson to make it a 1-0 game.

Quinnipiac made it 3-0 in the sixth, courtesy of an RBI-bunt single by Matt Tesoriero and a Heitzman RBI-double.

Fordham answered with two runs in the bottom of the sixth, making it a 3-2 game.  With one out, Peter DeMaria drew a walk and moved to second on a single by Will Findlay.  After a fly out, Tommy McAndrews doubled to right center, scoring both DeMaria and Findlay.

The Rams attempted to put together a ninth inning rally, as McAndrews and pinch-hitter Zach Selinger reached base on back-to-back singles with one out.  However, Mason Ulsh was able to get Sebastian Mexico and Ryan Thiesse to pop out to end the game in favor of the Bobcats.

For Fordham, Connor Haywood (0-1) took the loss, allowing one run on four hits with three strikeouts over five innings of work.  At the plate, McAndrews was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI, while Findlay and Cian Sahler also had two hits apiece.

The Fordham baseball team will next be in action on Tuesday, March 14th, as the Rams conclude a six-game homestand against Lafayette at Houlihan Par, beginning at 3:00 PM.
