Bronx, N.Y. – Fordham volleyball began Atlantic 10 play with a three-set loss to Dayton, 20-25, 23-25, 10-25, in a rematch of last year's championship. With the result, the Rams fall to 6-6 overall on the year and begin league action 0-1.
Fordham rallied in the opening set, getting within one late, but ultimately fell, then rallied again in the second to take a four-point lead, 21-17, before seeing the reigning champs fight back to claim a 2-0 start. The third was all Flyers as they hit .542 on 24 attacks in the frame.
In attack,
Chloe Pejouan led the way with seven kills, hitting a team-best .462, as well, with four blocks, two solo. Her middle block partner
Aria De La Rosa added six kills, hitting. 417, with four blocks of her own.
Whitley Moody chipped in six kills and
Audrey Brown had five.
Mallory Lipski was all over the court, keeping points alive, and finished with 13 digs, while both
Aneliesa Cartledge and
Zoe Talabong notched a pair of aces with
Ryan Naumann adding one, too.
