Boca Raton, Fla. – (March 5, 2022) – Saturday's game of the Fordham-FAU baseball series saw plenty of offense, as the teams combined for 25 runs and 22 hits at FAU Baseball Stadium in Boca Raton. Unfortunately for the Rams, the Owls came out ahead by a 15-10 count, despite a late ninth-inning rally for Fordham.
After two scoreless innings, the Rams (2-8) got on the scoreboard first, scoring three times in the top of third.
C.J. Vazquez was hit by a pitch with one out and moved to third on a stolen base ad throwing error.
Sebastian Mexico followed with an RBI-single to left center, scoring Vazquez from third. After a couple of wild pitches and walk,
Andy Semo drove a two-run single up the middle, scoring Mexico and
Jason Coules for the three-run lead.
The lead did not last long, as the Owls scored four runs in the bottom of the frame for a 4-3 edge, highlighted by a two-run home run by Nolan Schanuel, his second of the season.

FAU extended the lead to 7-3 in the fourth with a two-run single by Gabriel Rincones and a bases-loaded walk to Caleb Pendleton.
Fordham then closed the gap to 7-6 in the sixth, scoring three times. With runners at the corners and one out,
Zach Selinger plated Coules from third with a sacrifice fly, which was followed by a two-run home run to right by
T.J. Wachter, his first of the season.
The Owls though continued to pour on the offense, scoring twice in the bottom of the frame, while adding five runs in the seventh for a 14-6 lead. The teams then exchanged runs in the eighth putting the score at 15-7 before the Rams tried to mount a furious comeback.
Fordham scored runs in the ninth on a wild pitch and RBI-singles by
Diego Prieto and
Zach Selinger, which closed the gap to 15-10 with two outs and the bases loaded. However, FAU brought in Max Martzolf who struck out Wachter to end the game in favor of the Owls.
For Fordham,
Brooks Ey (0-3) took the loss, allowing seven runs over 3.2 innings of work, while at the plate, Wachter, Semo, and Selinger each drove in two runs, with Coules going 1-for-2 with three runs scored.
The series finale is set for Sunday at noon.
