Phoenix, Ariz. – Behind
Michaela Carter's first two career home runs, the Fordham softball team capped off the weekend with a 3-2 victory over Northern Colorado. With the result, the Rams improve to 2-3.
Carter hadn't homered in 69 career games prior to Sunday but the junior outfielder blasted a pair of solo shots, the latter of which came in the top of the seventh inning to propel Fordham to a win after the Bears had rallied to tie the game up. Carter scored all three runs, the first coming on
Rachel Hubertus' RBI single in the third, finishing the game 3-for-3. Hubertus tallied a pair of hits with
Brianna Pinto and
Bella Ayala accounting for the other two knocks. Pinto also stole her fourth base of the season already.
In the circle,
Bailey Enoch started and was cruising through four frames before giving up a run in the fifth and sixth innings.
Makenzie McGrath came on in relief in the sixth and earned the win, allowing just one hit over 1.2 frames.
The Rams are back in action for next weekend's Battle at the Beach, hosted by Coastal Carolina. Fordham will begin play Friday at 12:30 p.m. against South Carolina.
