Bronx, N.Y. – Fordham volleyball fell in four sets to Saint Louis on Friday night, 16-25, 25-20, 22-25, 22-25, in the opening match of two this weekend. With the loss, the Rams fall to 11-15 overall and 5-10 in league action, while the Billikens improve to 16-11 and 8-7, respectively.
Fordham couldn't overcome 22 errors in attack and 15 service errors despite notching 58 kills to Saint Louis' 49, including four players in double figures. Saint Louis was efficient in the opening frame, hitting .419 with 15 kills, but the Rams stormed back, hitting .371 with 17 kills to even the match up. The third and fourth sets went down to the final points but the visitors held on both times to seal the victory.
Whitley Moody led the way with 15 kills, followed by
Audrey Brown, with 14,
Aria De La Rosa, with 12, and
Chloe Pejouan, with 10. The latter two middles hit .417 and .409, respectively, on a combined 46 attacks, tallying just three errors.
Mallory Lipski racked up 24 digs, while
Megan Brzozowski produced 47 assists, 13 digs, two kills, and two aces. The defense matched its season-low of three blocks, while the 15 service errors were a new season-high by three.
During the match, Lipski moved up to fourth all-time in career digs, finishing with an even 1,300. De La Rosa moved into a tie for sixth with a career .260 hit percentage and into the all-time top-10 with 251 total blocks.
Fordham and Saint Louis do battle once more tomorrow at 12:30 p.m. on ESPN+.
