Volleyball Sweeps Rhode Island in Return Home

Rams Sweep Match, Season Series with Rival Rams

Bronx, N.Y. – Fordham volleyball returned to the Rose Hill Gym for the first time in nearly a month and swept Rhode Island in style, 25-11, 25-15, 25-22. With the win, the (host) Rams improve to 11-14 overall and 5-9 in conference play, while the (visiting) Rams fall to 6-21 and 2-12, respectively.

Needing just 15 attacks in the opening set, hitting .533, combined with Rhody's six attack errors and three service errors, Fordham made quick work of the opening frame, which included a whopping seven aces, five off the hand of senior libero Mallory Lipski, setting a new career-high in the process.

Fordham began the second frame with a 6-0 run and never trailed, finishing the set on a 4-0 run featuring Whitley Moody, two kills and a block assist, and Aria De La Rosa, a kill and a block assist. The final frame was much of the same as the hosts jumped out to another 6-0 lead, building it up to as much as seven, 16-9, before Rhode Island began to fight back. The visitors chipped away and eventually tied the game up, 21-21, capping a 6-2 run. After a point apiece, Fordham finished with three points, the final two coming after Rhody timeouts. The final point was an emphatic block by Chloe Pejouan and Megan Brzozowski.

Moody finished with a match-high 15 kills, hitting .481, with 10 digs, followed by Audrey Brown, nine kills at a .353 clip, and De La Rosa, seven and .429. Zoe Talabong led the defense with 13 digs, followed by Lipski's 12. Brzozowski racked up 34 assists, two aces, two blocks, and two digs, with Ryan Naumann tallying the other ace.

Fordham next hosts Saint Louis this weekend for a pair of matches on Friday and Saturday at 6 p.m. and 12:30 p.m., respectively, both on ESPN+.
