Bronx, N.Y. – (September 4, 2021) – It was a picture perfect day at Jack Coffey Field for today's men's soccer match between the Fordham Rams and LIU Sharks, but neither squad was able to tally on the scoreboard playing to a 0-0 draw in double overtime.
The two teams combined for 26 shots, however a number of them were blocked by the defense before they ever got near the two goalkeepers.
Fordham's
Callum James did have two saves in the match, earning his first shutout as a Ram. The biggest was a point blank shot by LIU's Emil Jaaskelainen in the 21
st minute that James was able to kick away.
LIU's Demetri Skoumbakis had one save in his shutout, as he stopped an
Alberto Pangrazzi shot in the final minute of the first half.
The Sharks did have a chance skate by the net in the waning minute of the first overtime period, as James was caught out of the goal with Jaaskelainen sliding the ball past an open net to the left post and out of play.
Fordham did have the advantage in corner kicks, 11-5, but were unable to capitalize on the set pieces.
The Rams are back in action on Monday, September 6
th, as they travel to St. John's for a 7:00 PM match.
