Bronx, N.Y. - As a new era of collegiate athletics begins with Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) legislation, Fordham Athletics has been proactive in preparing its student-athletes for this new landscape of college athletics.
Â
Last July, Fordham Athletics partnered with renowned brand expert and author of
Athletes are Brands too, Jeremy Darlow, to educate our student-athletes through a unique curriculum teaching them that they, too, are brands.
Â
With the partnership, Fordham became the first school in the Atlantic 10 and Patriot League to work with Darlow on a curriculum to advance knowledge of branding for its student-athletes. Through the lessons and services provided by Darlow, Fordham's student-athletes were taught how to use their athletic influence to help create a successful professional life that reaches beyond sports.
Â
In January, Fordham University and INFLCR launched a 5-year, department-wide agreement to empower our Ram student-athletes with content to build their personal brands on social media. Fordham student-athletes, coaches, staff, and other brand ambassadors for the Rams' 20 NCAA varsity sports have access to thousands of photos, videos, and graphics produced by Fordham Athletics and delivered through the INFLCR software and mobile app, to share on their personal social media channels.
Â
Within INFLCR, student-athletes can report activities, engagements and transactions as well as access partner apps such as Cameo. Naturally, with these added benefits and access, we ask that all of our student-athletes, coaches and staff members be mindful of the standing NCAA legislation and the parameters still in place that will continue to be communicated by our compliance department.
Â
"With our unique location in New York City, Fordham Athletics can be a proactive leader in the NIL space," said
Ed Kull, Fordham Athletics Director. "Partnering with expert innovators like Jeremy Darlow and INFLCR will ensure our student-athletes are trained and empowered to maximize all opportunities. In this ever-changing space, we will continue to seek out the best resources to prepare and equip our Rams for their future."
