Orlando, Fla. – The Fordham women's tennis squad closed out its 2021 spring season with a 4-0 loss to George Washington in the second round of the 2021 Atlantic 10 Championship at the USTA National Campus.
The Rams dropped the double point, losing both completed matches. Charlotte Bell and Alexandra Vesikallio defeated Fordham's
Genevieve Quenville and
Valeriya Deminova at third doubles, 6-2, and
Eleni Fasoula and
Nicole Li fell at the second position to Alexis Nelson and Lindsay Thompson by the same score.
In singles play, the Colonials took the first three completed matches to clinch the win.
Arina Taluyenko won the first set at first singes from Wiesemann, 6-2, but dropped sets two and three by identical 6-1 scores.
Both Quenville and Li won their first sets at third and sixth singles, respectively, but the matches were halted in the second set when George Washington clinched the match.
