Fordham Announces 25th A-10 Anniversary Men’s Tennis Team

Ram Fans Make Their Choices for A-10 Anniversary Squad

Bronx, N.Y. – (April 27, 2021) – Following a weekend of voting, Fordham fans have selected their choices as the best of the best for the Fordham men's tennis A-10 25th Anniversary Team.
 
Fans were asked to vote on for a seven-person squad, and they came through as all seven were All-Atlantic 10 performers at least once in their careers.
 
The next anniversary team vote will feature golf.
 
Here is a deeper look at each men's tennis individual:
Guy-Gebbia
Guy Gebbia (1992-96): Though most of his time was spent in the Patriot League, Gebbia helped Fordham make the transition into the Atlantic 10 during the 1995-96 season, helping Fordham to an 18-3 team record.  A team captain and a former Lombardi Award winner, he earned All-Atlantic 10 honors during his one season in the conference after recording at least 17 singles wins and 14 doubles.
John Cerga
John Cerga (1993-97): Cerga splits his career between the Patriot League and Atlantic 10, helping Fordham transition to the new conference.  After helping the Rams to an 18-3 record in 1995-96, he earned All-Atlantic 10 honors during the 1996-97 season, after recording a 15-3 singles record and an 11-3 doubles record.
Alex Bancila
Alex Bancila (1996-99): Bancila was Fordham's first multiple-time All-Atlantic 10 performer, receiving the honors in both the 1997-98 and 1998-99 season.  After recording 15 singles wins in 1996-97, he followed with 12 wins in year two and a spring record of 13-2 in his final season.  He was also Fordham's first Academic All-Conference selection for men's tennis which happened in 1998-99.

Chris Kelly (2000-03): Kelly is another two-time All-Atlantic 10 performer for the Rams in just three seasons at Rose Hill.  In his first season, he went 14-3 in singles play and 9-3 for doubles to earn his first All-Atlantic accolade.  The following season, he played only in the spring, posting a 10-2 singles mark and 9-2 doubles record to receive All-Atlantic 10 honors for a second time.  His final season saw him post a career-high 14 singles wins and was A-10 Performer of the Week once.
KowalskiAction
Kuba Kowalski (2011-14): Kowalski was a three-year performer playing at the top of the Rams' lineup during his stay.  He started his career by earning First Team All-Atlantic 10 honors for the 2011-12 season, registering a 21-10 singles record and an 18-12 doubles mark.  He was twice named A-10 Performer of the Week that season and earned an ITA Northeast Regional ranking.  Kowalski was also a multiple-time member of the Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll.
Fabian Mauritzson hits a backhand vs. Richmond
Fabian Mauritzson (2016-present): A member of the current team, Mauritzson received his All-Atlantic 10 honors a junior, garnering Second Team honors with a 16-11 singles record, while posting 12 doubles wins.  Over his stay, he has also earned three Atlantic 10 weekly awards and compiled 42 overall singles victories and 51 in doubles play.  Academically, Mauritzson is a four-year member of the Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll and been an ITA All-Academic selection three times.

Max Green (2017-present): Green is also a current member of the squad and one of just four Rams to earned multiple All-Atlantic 10 honors.  He received Second Team All-Atlantic 10 honors in his first two seasons, totaling 28 singles and 25 doubles wins over those seasons.  A member of the Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll, he is current 4-1 this spring season to go with a 3-3 double mark.
