Bronx, N.Y. – The Battle of the Rams in the Bronx tilted in VCU's favor on Saturday evening, 20-25, 23-25, 21-25. With the loss, Fordham falls to 7-17 overall and 4-9 in Atlantic 10 play while its opponent improves to 16-11 and 11-3, respectively.
The Bronx Rams played the former league champs and three-time regular season champs tough in the match but the visitors were able to hold off late charges to take the match. VCU hit .246 to Fordham's .136, though the hosts led in blocks (9 to 7) and aces (4 to 2).
Bella Ureña continued her fine play this weekend with a team-high 13 kills, hitting .171, with 10 digs, two blocks, and an assist, while
Whitley Moody posted nine kills, nine digs, three blocks, and an ace.
Chloe Pejouan made the start at middle and led the way with six more blocks, pushing her per-set average up to 1.63 for the year, while Moody,
Aria De La Rosa and
Claire O'Neil each had three.
Mallory Lipski led with 14 digs.
The Rams will wrap up the weekend against Davidson at 1 p.m. tomorrow.
