Rams Finish Regular Season with 2-0 Win Over George Mason

Danielle Etienne & Milan Bornstein Net Goals in the Opening 10 Minutes for Fordham

Bronx, N.Y. – (October 24, 2021) – If you were running late to the Fordham Rams' final regular season women's soccer match against George Mason on Sunday, you missed out on a lot.  Danielle Etienne and Milan Bornstein each scored in the first ten minutes of the contest, while the Fordham defense went into lockdown for the rest of the contest, as the Rams posted a 2-0 win over the Patriots at Jack Coffey Field.

The Rams got on the board in the third minute of play.  After Kristen Cocozza drew a foul just outside the box, Danielle Etienne lined up the free kick from the left size and picked the top left corner of goal from 19 yards out for her first collegiate goal and a 1-0 lead.

Just six minutes later, Fordham extended the lead to 2-0 with some pinpoint passing.  Hope Baisley put a through ball to Jenna Devine on the run into the box.  Devine crossed the ball back from the right to Milan Bornstein in the center of the box for the one-timer into the center of the goal for her fifth goal of the season.

The two-goal lead held up as Fordham's defense was superb, recording three defender saves in the second half to finish the shutout victory.  First, it was a shot by Emma Lee that was cleared off the line by Kristen Cocozza in the 63rd minute.  Then, it was a frantic sequence with three minutes left in regulation, as Marissa Krenn blocked not one but two potential goals for the Patriots off shots by Sara Chontosh and Grace Hotaling.

George Mason would get a couple of corner kick chances in the remaining time, but none resulted in a goal.
