Fordham Announces 25th A-10 Women’s Basketball Anniversary Team

Ram Fans Make Their Choices for A-10 Anniversary Squad

Bronx, N.Y. – (January 20, 2021) – Following the biggest voting turnout yet, Fordham fans have selected their choices as the best of the best for the Fordham women's basketball A-10 25th Anniversary Team.
 
Fans were asked to vote for six frontcourt players and seven in the backcourt.  Due to a multiple ties in the vote for both position groups, a total of 16 players are being recognized.
 
The vote began with the frontcourt, led by Hall of Famers Mobolaji Akiode and Suzanne Maguire as well as former Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Year, G'mrice Davis.  Then in the most competitive vote thus far, the headliners for the Rams' backcourt included the Atlantic 10 championship duo of Abigail Corning and Erin Rooney and former Atlantic 10 Player of the Year Bryson Cavanaugh. 
 
Here is a deeper look at each individual:
 
AkiodeVerticlMobolaji Akiode played from 1999 to 2003, appearing in 112 games for the Rams, finishing her career with 1,167 points and 554 rebounds, good for 13th and 17th all-time at Fordham, respectively.  She also ranked in the top 20 at Fordham in steals (129 - 18th), field goals (14th), and points per game average (10.4 – 20th).  Her finest year came during the 2002-03 season, where she ranked fourth in the Atlantic 10 in scoring at 16.5 ppg, earning Second Team All-Atlantic 10 honors and was Fordham's first major award recipient, taking home the league Most Improved Player Award.  Akiode was the recipient of the Hobbs Family Award at the Block "F" Award Banquet at the end of the year, and later, she was inducted into the Fordham Athletics Hall of Fame in 2014. MaguireVerticalSuzanne Maguire was a two-time All-Atlantic 10 performer in the Rams' first two seasons in the league.  She averaged 14.9 points and 6.2 rebounds for the 1995-96 season, earning Third Team honors, while in 1996-97, she was in the top ten in the Atlantic 10 in both scoring (16.7 ppg – 8th) and rebounding (8.2 rpg – 6th) to take Second Team honors.  Following her senior season, Maguire received the Hobbs Family Award at the Block "F" Award Banquet and was inducted into the Fordham Athletics Hall of Fame in 2017.  She finished her career in the top ten at Rose Hill in ten different categories, including points (1,475 – 5th), rebounds (737 – 6th), and steals (171 – 7th).
DavisVerticalG'mrice Davis played 125 games over four seasons for the Rams from 2014-18 and became only the second Ram to record 1,000 points and 1,000 rebounds in a career.  A two-time First Team All-Atlantic 10 and All-Defensive Team selection, she averaged a double-double over her final two seasons at Rose Hill, registering 14.6 points and 12.8 rebounds in 2016-17 and 16.5 points and 13.4 rebounds in 2017-18.  Davis capped her career as the Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Year in 2017-18 and was a WBCA All-America Honorable Mention pick.  She finished her career sixth all-time at Fordham in points (1,497), second in rebounds (1,199) and rebounds per game (9.6), and fourth in total field goals, and was a two-time recipient of the Hobbs Family Award at the Block "F" Award Banquet. ClarkVerticalSamantha Clark racked up 132 games played over her four-year career at Fordham from 2012-16 and was a member of the 2014 Atlantic 10 Championship team.  She opened her career by earning a spot on the 2012-13 Atlantic 10 All-Rookie Team, after being named the conference's Rookie of the Week five time over the course of the season.  She finished her stay by earning Second Team All-Atlantic 10 and All-Defensive honors in 2015-16 and was co-recipient of the Hobbs Family Award at the Block "F" Award Banquet.  Clark finished her career in the top ten at Fordham in five categories, including rebounds (946 – 3rd), blocks (149 – 3rd), rebounds per game (7.2 – 7th), field goals (9th), and points (1,263 – 10th).
JeffersonVerticalJada Jefferson was a four-year member of the Rams from 2002-06 and a former team captain.  She played 106 games over that time, netting 803 points, 545 rebounds, and 105 blocked shots.  After ranking in the top ten in the Atlantic 10 in 2004-05 at 6.8 rebounds per game, she averaged a career-best 12.3 points and 8.6 rebounds (4th in the A-10) as a senior in 2005-06, which earned Jefferson Second Team All-Atlantic 10 honors.   She finished her career ranked eighth at Fordham in blocked shots, as well as 18th in both rebounds and rebounds per game (5.1 rpg). PriceVertical2Stacey Price played for Fordham from 2001-06 and is another former team captain.  She played in 110 games for the Rams and was a stalwart in the paint, ranking in the top ten in the Atlantic 10 in blocked shots during the 2002-03 and 2003-04 seasons.  A member of the Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll, Price ended her career with 604 points, 574 rebounds, a .509 field goal percentage, and 101 blocks.  She ranks ninth in career blocks at Fordham, as well as 11th in field goal percentage, 13th in rebounds, and 16th in rebounds per game.
GouldingVerticalMary Goulding played three seasons for the Rams from 2016-19, helping lead Fordham to its second Atlantic 10 Championship title.  A two-year captain, she was a three-time Atlantic 10 Player of the Week selection during the 2018-19 season, which led to her earning spots on the All-Atlantic 10 First Team and Academic All-Conference Team.  That season ended with a superb performance from Goulding at the Atlantic 10 Championship, averaging 20.7 points and 6.7 rebounds over three games, shooting 57.5% from the field and 56.3% from three-point range to earn the Most Outstanding Player Award at the Championship.  She was also the recipient of Hobbs Family Award at the Block "F" Award Banquet for 2018-19.  For her career, she scored 749 points over 90 games to go with 524 rebounds, 179 assists, and 85 steals. WNIT-CorningAbigail Corning was a four-year member of the Rams from 2010-14 and a part of the historic first Atlantic 10 Championship title for Fordham.  Playing in 127 games at Rose Hill, she finished with 1,213 points, 702 rebounds, 340 assists, and 107 steals.  After earning an Atlantic 10 weekly award in each of her first two seasons, she helped lead the Rams to back-to-back conference championship games in her final two seasons, winning it all as a senior in 2013-14.  A Second Team All-Atlantic 10 and Academic All-Conference pick that season, Corning added to her accolades with the Most Outstanding Player Award at the A-10 Championship, averaging 11.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 3.7 assists.  She currently ranks 12th at Fordham in points, seventh in three-pointers made (171), ninth in three-point field goal percentage (.353), ninth in assists, and tenth in rebounds.
RooneyA1013Erin Rooney played for two seasons for the Rams from 2012-14 after transferring from Monmouth, and helped lead the Rams to back-to-back conference championship games.  In just two seasons, she was a two-time First Team All-Atlantic 10 selection and was named to the All-Championship Team twice.  Rooney was A-10 Player of the Week twice as a senior and recorded one of the rare triple-doubles in team history at VCU during the 2013-14 season, which was capped with Fordham's first-ever Atlantic 10 Championship title.  She appeared in 62 games, recording 1,062 points, 424 rebounds, 300 assists, and 104 steals, and ranks sixth in career points per game (15.6), 11th in assists, 12th in three-point field goal percentage (.347), and 20th in points.  She was also a Hobbs Family Award co-recipient following the 2013-14 season. CavanaughVerticalBryson Cavanaugh had three incredible seasons from 2017-20, appearing in 100 games and becoming the first Atlantic 10 Player of the Year in team history after the 2019-20 season, leading the conference in scoring at 19.5 points per game.  A member of the 2018-19 Atlantic 10 Championship team, Cavanaugh racked up 1,784 points (17.8 ppg), becoming one of the most prolific scorers for the program, while adding 578 rebounds (5.8 rpg), 206 assists, and 116 steals.  A three-time All-Atlantic 10 performer, he was First Team All-League twice and Second Team once and compiled 11 weekly Atlantic 10 honors.  Cavanaugh ranks in the top ten at Rose Hill in points (4th), points per game (3rd), field goals (5th), three-pointers (5th – 208), free throws made (4th), and free throw percentage (6th - .846), as well as being the Hobbs Family Award recipient following the 2019-20 season.
MackVerticalMonica Mack appeared in 117 games over her four-year career at Fordham from 2001-05.  She fell just shy of Fordham's 1,000-point club, registering 994 points to go with 352 rebounds, 358 assists, and 182 steals.  As a junior, she became Fordham's second straight winner of the Atlantic 10's Most Improved Player Award for the 2003-04 season, while as a senior she was Third Team All-Atlantic 10.  She ended her career as one of three Rams to ranks in Fordham's all-time top ten in both assists (8th) and steals (5th), while also being 12th in three pointers made (111). HoldenVerticalLauren Holden was a workhorse over her four-year career at Fordham from 2015-19, which ended with an Atlantic 10 Championship title in 2019.  She played almost 4,500 minutes for the Rams, ranking first in that career category.  After earning Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week honors once as a freshman, Holden went on to register 1,141 points over 132 games, while adding 253 rebounds, 286 assists, and 50 steals.  She rates in the top 20 all-time at Fordham in seven categories, including minutes played, games played (T2nd), three-pointers (3rd – 213), free throw percentage (4th - .853), assists (13th), three-point field goal percentage (15th) and points (17th).
ACollinsVerticalArielle Collins played 115 games over her four-year career at Fordham from 2009-13.  One of the top defensive guards in the Atlantic 10, she earned All-Defensive Team honors as a senior in 2012-13, helping Fordham to its first-ever Atlantic 10 Championship game, which was held at the Barclays Center.  She finished her career with 820 points, 311 rebounds, 243 assists, and 170 steals.  Collins ranks in the top 20 all-time at Fordham in steals (T8th), free throw percentage (T10th - .801), three-pointers (11th – 133), and assists (16th). PetersVerticalBecky Peters was one of the most consistent Rams over her four-year career from 2008-12, averaging double figures in scoring all four years.  Appearing in 120 games, she racked up 1,318 points (11.0 ppg), 558 rebounds, 221 assists, and 191 steals.  In addition to being the ninth all-time leading scorer at Fordham, Peters could play both ends of the floor, as her 191 steals are second all-time at Rose Hill.  She is also 16th in rebounds, ninth in three-pointers made (155), and 15th in points per game.
DickinsonVerticalBeth Ann Dickinson was a two-year sharpshooter for Fordham from 2002-04, after transferring from Saint Peter's.  She appeared in 58 games over those seasons, recording 677 points (11.7 ppg), 117 assists, and 90 steals, while shooting .350 from three-point range and .873 from the free throw line.  During the 2003-04 season, she earned A-10 Player of the Week once after netting a 30-point game, becoming only the fifth Ram to score 30 as a member of the Atlantic 10.  Dickinson capped the season as a member of the Academic All-Conference Team and remains Fordham's all-time free throw percentage leader, while being tenth in three-point field goal percentage and 15th in three-pointers made (105). ZopfVerticalAnnie Zopf was a four-year member of the Rams from 2005-09, playing in 112 games.  She was a minutes eater, ranking near the top of the Atlantic 10 in each of her final three seasons, where she topped the 1,000 minute mark.  She recorded 819 points for her career to go with 294 rebounds, 218 assists, and 73 steals.  Zopf ranks in the top 20 at Fordham in games played (T17th) and three pointers made (13th - 108).
