Bronx, N.Y. – The Fordham women's basketball began Atlantic 10 play on Monday afternoon with a 79-64 loss to Davidson. With the result, the Rams fall to 2-2 on the year, while the Wildcats improve to 4-3.

A 22-10 second quarter for the Wildcats overcame a slow start, with the Fordham defense limiting the visitors to just 10 first-quarter points. Davidson kept its foot on the pedal, outscoring the Rams, 24-14, in the third before Fordham won the final 10 minutes, 26-22.

Anna DeWolfe, fresh off being named the Atlantic 10 Player of the Week during halftime of today's contest, shared the team-high in points with junior Megan Jonassen, who scored a career-high 14 to go with 11 rebounds, nine coming on the offensive end, also personal bests. DeWolfe added two steals, a game-high she shared with Matilda Flood, who finished with five points for a second straight game. Freshman Maranda Nyborg chipped in a season-high 10 points on 3-of-3 shooting and 4-of-5 makes from the line in just seven minutes, while Kendell Heremaia and Kaitlyn Downey combined for 16 points, 16 rebounds, and six assists.

The Rams struggled with their shot on the day, hitting 33.9% of their attempts, plus just 15.0% from long distance and 65.5% from the line, while the Wildcats shot 53.8% as a collective, including 42.9% from deep. Fordham dominated the glass, however, 43-21, including a season-high 21 offensive rebounds – after Jonassen's nine, both Katie McLoughlin and Sarah Karpell each had four.

Fordham is back in action in less than 24 hours when it hosts the University at Albany on Tuesday afternoon with a 1 p.m. tip.
