Bronx, N.Y. – (September 28, 2019) – So far in 2019, the Fordham men's soccer team has had a flair for dramatic with five of their eight games going into overtime.  On Saturday, the Rams made it six out of nine and got their second overtime win this season in Atlantic 10 play, a 1-0 decision over the St. Bonaventure Bonnies at Jack Coffey Field, as Luca Fava headed home the game-winning goal with 4.1 seconds left in the game.

With the win, Fordham improved to 3-5-1 on the year, 2-0 in the Atlantic 10, while St. Bonaventure fell to 2-6 on the year, 0-2 in the league.

After a scoreless first half, the game changed in the 47th minute, when St. Bonaventure goalkeeper Trevor Wilson fouled a Fordham player as the last defender to goal and was red carded, leaving the Bonnies down a player for the rest of the game.

The Rams threw everything at the backup netminder Kyle Cunningham, but Cunningham made all the saves he was called upon to handle in the second half, pushing the game into overtime.

In overtime, the Rams looked to have gotten a game-winning goal on a shot by Luca Fava that got past Cunningham, but the ball hit the right post and glanced out, keeping the game scoreless into a second overtime session.

Fava would not be denied though in the second overtime session, converting in the final seconds.  Bart Dziedzic played a corner kick toward the far side of the six-yard box, where Fava headed home his first goal of the season into the right side of the net with 4.1 seconds left on the clock.

In net, Fordham's Konstantin Weis had two saves to earn his second shutout of the season, while Cunningham ended with seven for the Bonnies in 63 minutes of work.  Wilson had three saves in the first 47 minutes.

The Fordham men's soccer team will next be in action on Tuesday, October 1st, when the Rams start a four-match road trip at Stony Brook, beginning at 7:00 PM.
