Bronx, N.Y. – The Fordham women's tennis squad, along with three student-athletes, was honored recently by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) who recognized the Rams with an Academic Team award while
Gianna Insogna,
Nicole Li, and
Whitney Weisberg were named Scholar-Athletes.

The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above (on a 4.00 scale).Â

In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status a player must meet the following criteria: 1.) be a varsity letter winner, 2.) have a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year, and 3.) have been enrolled at their present school for at least 2 semesters (including freshman through senior year).

Insogna, who graduated in May with a degree in Philosophy with a minor in Bioethics, compiled a 16-14 record in singles action in 2018-2019. She was 10-9 in dual matches, playing at the second (1-0), fourth (6-3), fifth (1-2) and sixth (2-4) positions and recorded an 11-15 doubles mark.

Li, who just completed her freshman season, went 16-11 in singles play, 10-7 in dual matches, playing the third (2-0), fourth (1-2), fifth (4-3), and sixth (3-2) spots. She was 13-10 in doubles action, 11-8 in dual matches and was named Atlantic 10 Rookie of the week once last year.

Weisberg, who graduated in May with a degree in Political Science, had a 7-6 record in singles play in 2018-2019. She was 3-0 in dual matches, all at sixth singles and advanced to the Westchester draw final at the Columbia Invitational. Weisberg was also 5-3 in doubles action.
