Philadelphia, Pa. – The Fordham women's tennis squad traveled down to Philadelphia today where they defeated Atlantic 10 foes, Saint Joseph's University, 6-1, at the SJU Tennis Complex.
The match opened with the Rams winning the doubles point, taking two of the three matches.
Arina Taluyenko and
Tatiana Grigoryan defeated Amanda Nava and Isis Gill-Reid, at first doubles, 6-3, and
Alexis Zobeideh and
Genevieve Quenville were victorious at No. 2 doubles, 6-0, over Paige Conrad and Alex Kramer.
The Rams then took five of the six singles matches, four in straight sets.
Maia Balce won at No. 2 singles, 6-1 and 7-5, over Gill-Reid while
Gianna Insogna defeated Conrad at fourth singles, 6-4 and 6-2. At No. 5 singles, Quenville didn't drop a set to Kramer, winning 6-0 and 6-0, while at sixth singles
Nicole Li upended Katherine Devlin, 6-0 and 6-1.
At first singles, Taluyenko dropped the first set to Nava, 6-4, before winning the second, 4-6, and the third, 7-6 (2).
The Rams return to action on Sunday, April 7, as they host Davidson College on the Hawthorn/Rooney Courts at 11:00 a.m.
