Orlando, Fla. – The Fordham men's tennis team saw its 2019 season end with a 4-1 loss to Richmond at the 2019 Atlantic 10 Championships at the USTA National Campus on Friday.
Things started well for the Rams as
Max Green and
Finn Kemper took second doubles from George Lovitt and John Walsh, 6-4. However, Matthew Fernandez and Joshua Keitelman defeated Fordham's Fabian Mauritzson and Allen Thorns at first doubles and then Campbell Erwin and Klein Evans upended
Lutwin de Macar and
Alex Makatsaria at the third position, 7-5, to win the doubles point for the Spiders.
After Erwin defeated Makatsaria at fifth singles, Mauritzson got the Rams on the board with a 17-6 (4), 6-2 win over Fernandez at first singles. But that would be the only singles win for Fordham, who sent three of the remaining matches to a third set.
