Gallery: (4/13/2019) Men's Tennis vs. Siena
Bronx, N.Y. – The start of today's Fordham men's tennis team was delayed by last night's rain but once the match started the Rams made fast work of Siena, defeating the Saints, 4-0, on the Hawthorn/Rooney Courts.
The match opened with Fordham taking all three doubles matches to earn the doubles point. Fabian Mauritzson and
Allen Thornes won at first doubles over Tomas del Olmo and Guillermo Torres, 6-3,
Finn Kemper and
Max Green defeated Matt Bellino and Sagar Bains at second doubles, 7-6 (3), and
Alex Makatsaria and
Lutwin de Macar took third doubles from Alexandros Giannakit and Cameron Kirkwood, 7-5.
The Rams then took all three completed singles matches for the win. de Macar dropped the first set to Muhammad Sawani at fourth singles, 6-3, but came back to win the second, 6-2, and the tiebreaker, 10-4. Makatsaria and
Jofre Segarra had an easier time with their opponent as both win in straights sets. Makatsaria defeated Cameron Kirkwood at fifth singles, 6-1, 6-0, while Segarra won at sixth singles over Giannakit, 6-3, 6-4.
The Rams return to action on Tuesday, April 23, as they travel to Florida to face Eastern Florida State College prior to the Atlantic 10 Championships to be held from April 25-28 in Orlando.
