Gallery: (3/30/2019) Men's Tennis vs. George Washington
Bronx, N.Y. – The Fordham men's tennis team squared off with an Atlantic 10 opponent today on the Hawthorn/Rooney Courts, falling to George Washington, 5-2.
The Rams opened play dropping the doubles point, losing all three doubles matches, though two went to a tiebreaker. Fabian Mauritzson and
Allen Thornes fell at first doubles to Ben Barnett and Zicheng Zeng, 7-6 (3), and
Lutwin de Macar and
Alex Makatsaria fell to Hanyu Liu and Ryan Navarro, 7-6 (5), at the third spot.
In singles play,
Max Green and
Alex Makatsaria picked up wins fort Fordham. Green dropped the first set at first singles to Zeng, 6-1, but came back to win the next two, 6-4 and 6-3. Makatsaria defeated Dennis Afanasev at fourth singles, 6-4 and 7-6 (2).
The Rams return to action on Sunday, March 31 as they host Yeshiva University at 11:00 a.m. and Manhattanville College at 3:00 p.m.
