Dayton, Ohio – The Fordham men's tennis team got off to a slow start on their weekend trip to the University of Dayton, falling behind Duquesne University, 3-0 before coming back to win four straight singles matches for a 4-3 win over the Dukes.
The match opened with Duquesne winning the doubles point, winning both completed matches. Jared Isaacs and Alex Mascioli defeated
Finn Kemper and
Max Green at first doubles and Dane Bendel and Alejandro Rodriguez upended
Alex Makatsaria and
Allen Thornes at the third spot by identical 6-4 scores.
After the Dukes picked up wins at first and fourth singles to take a 3-0 lead, Green picked up the first Fordham point with a 6-3, 7-5 win over Drew Akins at second singles. Kemper made it a 3-2 match with a 6-4, 7-6 (3) win at third singles over Mascioli and Makatsaria knotted the match at three with a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Rodriguez at the fifth position.
Jeremy Chung made easy work of Dane Bendel at the sixth spot, 6-0 and 6-0, to give the Rams the win.
Fordham returns to action on Saturday, March 23, as the Rams take on the University of Dayton at 1:00 p.m.
