Middletown, Conn. – (February 15, 2019) – The Fordham squash team got off on the right foot at the 2019 CSA Team Championship on Friday, as the Rams earned a 5-4 win over NYU to advance to the Chaffee Cup semifinals in a match played at Wesleyan College.
The even slot matches kicked off the dual between Fordham and NYU with the Rams earning wins at the #2, #6, and #8 positions. At second position,
Will Pantle was credited with a retirement win over NYU's Hamaad Jary as Jary fell ill in the match, defaulted the first two games, and then retired from the match.
Justin Deckoff won at the #6 position over Karan Kochhar in three games, 11-6, 11-6, and 11-9, while
Justin Esposito topped Rishabh Periwal in three games, 11-8, 11-9, and 11-6.
Up 3-1, Fordham needed two more points to win the match, getting wins at the seventh and ninth positions to secure the win.

Winthrop Reed IV earned point #4 at the seventh slot with a four-game win over Max White, 11-5, 11-2, 7-11, and 12-10.
Will Beatrez then got the clinching match point at the ninth slot over Alex Murphy, 12-10, 5-11, 15-13, and 12-10.
The Rams will now face Hamilton College in the Chaffee Cup semifinals at 11:30 AM on Saturday.
