South Orange, N.J. – (October 8, 2019) – Seton Hall scored twice in the second half over an 11-minute stretch to get past the Fordham Rams, 3-1, in men's soccer action on Tuesday night at Owen T. Carroll Field in New Jersey.
With the loss, Fordham falls to 3-8-1 on the year, while Seton Hall improved to 5-4-0.
Fordham controlled most of the early action, getting a pair of prime scoring changes. In the 13
th minute,
Johannes Pieles put a header on goal off a corner kick that Seton Hall goalkeeper Andreas Nota stopped. Later in the 36
th minute,
Conrado Duhour had a diving header toward goal, but the ball went over the crossbar, keeping the game scoreless.
Seton Hall then had their first shot on net in the 38
th minute, as Sean MacLeod had a blast toward the upper right corner of goal that Fordham goalkeeper
Konstantin Weis made a leaping save on.
The Pirates would get the opening goal moments later, as Weis attempted to punch out a cross, but the ball was gathered in by Carlton McKenzie. McKenzie made one move around a defender and scored on a shot from 20 yards to the right side of goal, his second of the season.
The score was 1-0 into the second half, when Fordham knotted the game at one in the 55
th minute.
Andron Kagramanyan made a run in the offensive end toward the middle, finding
Filippo Ricupati in the box for a spinning shot that found the back of the net for his third marker of the season.

The game did not stay tied long, as the Pirates regained the lead in the 59
th minute. MacLeod took a free kick following a foul call on Fordham from just outside the box on the left side. He took the direct shot on net, sneaking it inside the left post for his second goal of the season.
Fordham thought it tied the game right away in the 61
st minute. As the ball was in the box, it was headed up in the air by a Seton Hall defender, where multiple players and the goalkeeper went up for the ball. Fordham's
Sameer Fathazada would put the ball in the net, however, the far side linesman called the play offsides and disallowed the goal.
The Pirates then sealed the game in the 72
nd minute, going up by a 3-1 score. Stephen Elias went on a long run up the left side, chipping a cross past Weis in the box. The pass was knocked into the goal by Vittorio Argeri for his second goal of the year.
In goal, Weis ended the match with three saves for the Rams, while Nota had two stops over 87 minutes of action, before an injury forced him from the game for Steven Catudal.
The Fordham men's soccer team will next be in action on Saturday, October 12
th, when the Rams head to Massachusetts for a 1:00 PM match against the Minutemen.
