Sameer Fathazada’s First Half Goal Proves to be the Difference

Amherst, Mass. – (October 12, 2019) – Fordham's Sameer Fathazada netted the lone goal of the contest, while the Fordham defense gave up only two shots on goal, as the Rams shut out the Massachusetts Minutemen, 1-0, at Rudd Field in Amherst, Mass.

With the win, Fordham improved to 3-1 in the Atlantic 10, 4-8-1 overall, while UMass fell to 0-4 in the league, 4-8-0 on the year.

The Fordham defense and goalkeeper Konstantin Weis were able to make that one goal hold up, limiting the Minutemen to only two shots on goal for the game.  Weis came up with a pair of saves, and was involved in a number of scoring changes in other fashions, either punching the ball out of the box or catching a cross on a Massachusetts opportunity.

Fathazada and Tomer Zloczower each had three shots to lead the offense for the Rams.

The Fordham men's soccer team will next be in action on Saturday, October 19th, when the Rams host Saint Joseph's at Jack Coffey Field, beginning at 7:00 PM.
