Volleyball Suffers Four-Set Defeat at Davidson

Rams Travel to VCU on Sunday Before Returning Home Next Weekend

Davidson, N.C. – The Fordham volleyball team is still searching for its first Atlantic 10 victory of the year after falling in four sets at Davidson on Friday night. The Rams saw a late lead in the first set slip away before evening things up in the second, ultimately falling to the Wildcats on the night. With the loss, Fordham falls to 7-9 and 0-4 in league action, while Davidson improves to 7-10 and 2-2, respectively.

Fordham led for much of the opening frame, building up an eventual 24-18 lead to hold set point, but the hosts rallied back to even things up with a pair of blocks and a pair of kills, plus two errors. McKenna Lahr broke the slide with a kill but Davidson chipped away with three straight points to take the set. Things remained the same in set two for the Rams except the finish – the visitors held on to a three-point lead at the end, 24-21, to take the second, 25-22. The Wildcats pushed ahead in sets three and four midway through them to secure the match.

Lahr tied Alison Jennings for the match-high with 14 kills, adding nine digs, a block, and an ace. Olivia Fairchild moved within 16 kills of her 1,000th with nine on the night, while Aria De La Rosa chipped in eight at a .353 clip, with four blocks, and Bella Ureña had seven. Megan Brzozowski racked up 25 assists, eight digs, three blocks, and a kill, while Morgan Williams recorded 22 digs, four assists, and a pair of aces. Mallory Lipski came off the bench to contribute eight digs, two assists, and two aces, as well.

The Rams next travel to VCU for a Sunday afternoon contest at 1 p.m. before finally returning home next weekend for their first two home contests of the campaign next Friday and Saturday.
