Bronx, N.Y. – (September 14, 2018) – Behind a pair of second half markers from
Margaret Roughley and
Milan Bornstein, the Fordham women's soccer team wrapped up non-conference action with a 2-0 shutout victory over the Marist Red Foxes at Jack Coffey Field on Friday night.
With the win, Fordham improved to 3-5-0 on the year, while Marist fell to 2-3-1 on the year.
After a scoreless first half, the Rams broke the deadlock in the 58
th minute after Marist was call for a foul just outside the box on the left side.
Margaret Roughley took the free kick from 20 yards, which evaded the Marist goalkeeper and found the bottom right corner of the net for her second goal of the season.
Then just three minutes later, the Rams increased the lead to 2-0, as
Amanda Miller chased after a loose ball in the offensive end. The Marist goalkeeper came out to challenge with Miller deflecting the ball off her to
Milan Bornstein, who ripped the ball into an open net for her first goal of the season.

Those two goals would stand up, as Fordham held Marist to three shots in the game. Fordham's
Kelly LaMorte needed to make just one save on the night to post her third shutout of the season.
The Fordham women's soccer team will next be in action on Thursday, September 20
th, as the Rams host Richmond for a 7:00 PM contest at Jack Coffey Field.
