Bronx, N.Y. – (August 29, 2018) – Following three road contests to start the 2018 season, the Fordham women's soccer team will have their home opener on Thursday night against the Hofstra Pride, starting at 7:00 PM on Coffey Field. The Rams are then back on the road for their second match of the week, playing at Lehigh on Sunday afternoon.

SERIES HISTORY: This is the 17
th all-time meeting between Fordham and Hofstra with the Pride holding the better end of the series with a 13-2-1 record against the Rams. The Pride have won seven straight meetings dating back to 2005, which includes a 1-0 win at Hofstra last season. Fordham's last win over Hofstra came in 2004.
For Fordham and Lehigh, this will be the third all-time meeting since the Rams went varsity in 1993. The Mountainhawks won both previous meetings in 1993 & 1994, when both school were a part of the Patriot League.
QUICK LOOK: Hofstra enters Thursday with a 2-1 record, having defeated Bucknell (1-0) and Boston University (2-1 (2OT)), while falling to Fairfield (1-0). In addition to playing the Rams, Hofstra will also face #7 Viriginia on Sunday this week.
After three road games, the Rams will finally have their home opener on Thursday.
Lehigh is 1-2 on the young season, as the Mountainhawks got by Fairleigh Dickinson, 1-0, while dropping contests to Saint Joseph's (2-0) and Villanova (4-0).
LAST TIME OUT: Columbia's Talia Tyler notched a goal and assist on Sunday afternoon to lead the Lions to a 3-0 win over the Fordham Rams in women's soccer action at Commisso Soccer Stadium in New York.
Columbia struck for two goals in the first half with the first coming in the 25
th minute. Emily Koe and Emma Anderson got loose on the right side for a give-and-go goal by Koe, her first of the season.
Then in the final seconds of the half, Columbia was awarded their ninth corner kick of the period. The corner turned into a scramble in front with Talia Tyler getting the final touch and tucking the ball into the lower left corner of the goal for her first of the year.
The Lions finished the scoring in the 77
th minute, when Gracie Wall caused a turnover, pushing the ball to Tyler, who immediately found Mallaika Tomar for a semi-breakaway. Tomar then tucked the ball inside the left post for the 3-0 final.
In net, Columbia's Sophia Whitehouse and Marie Matthews combined for the shutout with Whitehouse making three saves. Fordham's
Kelly LaMorte had four saves for the Rams.
WHO'S NEXT: Following this week's action, the Rams begin a five-game homestand at Jack Coffey Field, starting with Yale on Thursday, September 6
th at 7:00 PM, followed by the annual Battle of the Bronx versus Manhattan on Sunday, September 9
th at 1:00 PM.
