Worcester, Mass. – (August 24, 2018) – Holy Cross' Ang Seslija converted on a penalty kick in the 52
nd minute, while Sophia Lettieri made four saves, as the Crusaders downed the Fordham Rams, 1-0, in women's soccer action at Johnson Smith Stadium in Worcester, Massachusetts.
The loss drops Fordham to 0-2 on the year, while Holy Cross improved to 1-2.
It was a scoreless first half courtesy of both starting goalkeepers. Fordham's
Kelly LaMorte made four first half saves, two of which were high quality stops. In the 14
th minute off a Holy Cross corner kick, Carly Flahive angled a shot toward goal, which LaMorte was able to punch over the crossbar for a stop. Then in the final minute, Paige Epp got loose inside the right side of the box, firing a shot from 12 yards to the far post, which LaMorte made a diving punch save to keep the game scoreless.
On the other side, Holy Cross' Sophia Lettieri made three saves in the opening frame with her best coming in the 34
th minute on a hard shot by
Amanda Miller to the right post, which Lettieri was able to smother.

The second half saw the lone goal of the game, as Fordham was called for a handball in the box, awarding a penalty kick to the Crusaders. Ang Seslija stepped to the spot and scored to the left side of goal for her first of the year.
The Rams tried to get the equalizer, getting seven shots toward frame after the Holy Cross goal, but none could find the back of the net with Lettieri registering one save on those shots.
LaMorte added one more save in the 74
th minute, finishing with five in the game.
The Fordham women's soccer team will next be in action on Sunday, August 26
th, when the Rams head across town to face the Columbia Lions for a 2:00 PM start.
