Pittsburgh, Pa. – The Fordham University men's basketball Rams continue their 2017-2018 Atlantic 10 season, the 115th season of varsity basketball at Rose Hill, by traveling to Pittsburgh to face the Duquesne University Dukes in the A.J. Palumbo Center on Saturday, February 10, at 12:00 p.m.
The game will be broadcast on AT&T SportsNet Pittsburgh and streamed live on the Atlantic 10 Digital Network with Dave Anderson (p-b-p) and Rich Zosec (color) announcing and broadcast on WFUV (90.7 FM) and
www.wfuvsports.org with James Corrigan (p-b-p) and Emmanuel Berbari (color) announcing.
Fordham enters the game with an 8-15 overall record, 3-8 in the Atlantic 10, after a 67-66 A-10 win over George Mason in the Rose Hill Gym on Wednesday night while Duquesne is 15-10 overall, 6-6 in the conference, after an 88-73 A-10 loss at Dayton on Wednesday.
Saturday afternoon's contest will be the 38th meeting between Fordham and Duquesne on the hardwood with the Dukes leading the all-time series, which started in the 1949-50 season, 22-15. Duquesne took this year's first meeting, 64-41, in the Rose Hill Gym on January 6 behind 21 points from Rene Castro-Kennedy and the two teams split a pair of games last year with the Dukes winning 75-72 on December 30 in the Rose Hill Gym as Emile Blackmon scored 17 points and Mike Lewis II added 15 and the Rams winning 70-52 in Pittsburgh on February 22 when
Javontae Hawkins netted 20 points and
Christian Sengfelder added 19.
Notes
• Senior guard
Will Tavares, who leads the Rams in scoring (14.0 ppg), has scored in double figures in 18 of his 22 games this year. He is currently 19th in the Atlantic 10 in scoring.
• Tavares does most of his damage in the second half of games where he is averaging 9.2 ppg (compared to 4.8 in the first half).
• After averaging just over 17 minutes per game over the first 20 contests this year, sophomore guard
Cavit Havsa has stepped up his game, playing all 40 minutes in the past three games.
• Havsa is averaging 8.0 ppg and 3.3 rpg over the past three games, shooting .692 (9-13) from the field.
• Junior guard
Joseph Chartouny leads the NCAA this year in steals/game with 3.35.
• Chartouny has 227 career steals, good for a third place tie on the Fordham all-time list.
• Chartouny has 406 career helpers, sixth-best in school history.
• Chartouny is one of three Atlantic 10 players to rank in the top 25 in assists, steals and rebounds, joining Davidson's Jon Axel Gudmundsson and Saint Louis' Jordan Goodwin.
• Fordham also leads the league, and is fourth in the nation, in steals with 224 (9.7/game).
