Hartford, Conn. – (February 25, 2018) – The championship match of the Chaffee Cup Division at the 2018 CSA Team Championship came down to wire between two longtime rivals in Fordham and NYU at the Trinity College Courts in Hartford, Connecticut. With each team earning three victories, NYU came away with three five-game wins to win the Chaffee Cup over Fordham, 6-3.
Fordham won the earlier two meetings with NYU, 8-1 and 5-4, but as happens, trying to beat an opponent three times in one season is difficult.
Fordham earned wins at the second, fifth, and seventh positions for the Rams' three wins.
Peter Yuen topped Ashish Ramachandran in four games at the #2 position, 11-4, 11-6, 12-14, and 14-12, while
Griffin Fitzgerald defeated Ginno Geocadin at the fifth slot, 15-13, 11-9, 6-11, and 11-9.
Joseph Hughes also won at the seventh slot over Linus Kim, 12-10, 9-11, 14-12, and 11-6.
NYU got their first three wins with victories at the first, fourth, and eighth positions.

Thus, the match was decided with the three five-game matches at the third, sixth, and ninth slots.
John Lennon opened his third position match with Bradford Sutherland by taking the first two games, 11-7, and 11-9, but Sutherland came all the way back to win, taking the final three games, 11-8, 11-4, and 11-2.
Tommy White also had his opponent, Karan Kochar, down two game to none (11-6, 11-8), but Kochar also fought his way back to claim the match in five games, 11-5, 11-6, and 11-6.
Will Beatrez tried to flip the script on NYU's Michael Kumar, as he worked his way back from two games down to tie it in the fourth game, but Kumar won in five, 11-4, 11-6, 9-11, 4-11, and 11-9.
The loss ends Fordham's season at 20-4.
